WOO DOGGIE

It has been a troubling year for the Cubs and a roller-coaster year for ubiquitous bleacher bum Ronnie “Woo” Wickers. Last spring the Cub’s marketing department used Wickers’ trademark “Woo” in an ad to promote ticket sales.

But the 58-year old Wickers was arrested on a noise violation and is to appear in court next week. The police report said Wickers “yelled names of Chicago Cubs baseball players followed by a “Woo Woo” sound from the balcony” of an apartment complex in the wee hours. Wickers, a window washer, said he will plead not guilty and has three lawyers working on his case.

No worries, though. Cubs left-fielder Henry Rodriguez has offered to pay $75 fine if Wickers is found guilty of the violation.
